An overseas Singaporean residing in China has become the fifth finalist in Changi Airport’s 2012 ‘Be a Changi Millionaire’ Draw. Mr Sim Why Teck was about to depart for Hong Kong on a Jetstar Asia flight when he made a detour at Gassan Watches to purchase a Tag Heuer watch worth about S$1,700 on behalf of a friend. As a result, he now has a one-in-six chance to win S$1 million in cash.

Singapore Changi Airport managed 4.28 million passenger movements in March 2012, representing the highest number of passengers ever handled at Changi during the month of March. Passenger traffic for the month increased 15.3% year-on-year, in tandem with the increase in aircraft movements which grew 10.6% to 27,000. Airfreight movements decreased 1.8% to 163,000 tonnes during the month.

There was strong travel demand across all regions with traffic between Singapore and the Middle East growing by more than 20%. Other regions also grew by double digits. Aircraft landings and take-offs increased 13.1% to 24,900 flights, corresponding with the growth in passenger traffic.
